Audio Recorder
Audio Recorder is a free software application your students can use to create
audio files that can be added to the iMovie during the editing process. You
can download the latest version of Audio Recorder here.
RECORDING
- Once you have downloaded Audio Recorder, launch it by double-clicking on
the file name.
- Go to Audio Recorder > Preferences on the top menu.
- Select MP3 for Output Format and Voice for Quality. Click on the Choose button to select the your project folder and then close the Preferences window.
- Set the audio input level by using the slider. Click on the Monitor Input box
to listen as you record using the USB headset.
- Click on the Record button and speak either into the built-in mic (you’ll have to lean close to it for best results).
- Click on Stop to finish.
- Name the file (keep the .mp3 extension) and save it in your project folder.
It will probably come up ready to save to this location, but if not, you may
need to click the down arrow and drag the scroll bar all the way left to find
your way there.

REVIEWING WHAT YOU RECORDED
- Open iTunes. It is on the dock at the bottom of your desktop, or you can find it in the applications folder on your hard drive.
- Go to iTunes > Preferences on the top menu.
- Click on Advanced and UNCHECK Keep iTunes Music folder organized AND Copy
files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library.
- Click on OK.
- Open your project folder and double-click your audio file.
- You may need to turn up the volume by clicking on the speaker icon at the very top of your screen (next to the clock) and readjusting the speaker volume. You should hear your audio through either the computer speakers or through the headset.

USING THE LOGITECH USB COMBINATION HEADSET
- Launch System Preferences (on the dock or in the Apple menu).
- Select Sound in the Hardware section.
- Click on the Input tab to record using the headset. Select Logitech
USB headset.
- Click on the Output tab to listen using the headset. Select Logitech
USB headset.
- When you are finished, quit System Preferences and disconnect the headset.
