LOADING THE CAMERA- Open the cassette door by turning the camera over, sliding the Open/Eject button and lifting the door outward. The mechanism that holds the video cassette will slide out automatically.
- Carefully place the cassette into the slot with the red strip or label facing down and out.

- Squeeze the mechanism to close it – be careful
not to push down on it. Once closed, the mechanism will retract back
into the camera.
- Close the door, and you are ready to begin filming.

ATTACHING AN EXTERNAL MICROPHONE- Open
the silver door on the right front of the camera.
- Plug the microphone into the red jack.

VIEWING WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY FILMED
- Move the power setting from Camera to Play/VCR.
- Open the view screen to see the control panel on the body of the camera. The top four buttons work like those on a VCR.
- Rewind the tape by pressing on the double arrows facing the left.
- Play the tape by pressing on the single arrow and double vertical lines button. You will be able to watch the video on the view screen.

CAPTURING THE VIDEO FOR EDITING WITH IMOVIE- To
access the firewire port, turn the camera over and use your fingernail
to open the silver hatch on the front marked with an S and a DV.

- Connect the camera to your computer using the firewire
included in the camera case. The firewire port on the iBook is on the
left side of the computer, third port from the back.
- With the
camera connected and the tape rewound, open iMovie.
- Press Play on the camera and click on the Import button at the bottom of the iMovie window. Clips will begin to appear in the clips pane on the right of the iMovie window.
- Wait for the video capture process to finish. This may take quite a while if you have a great deal of footage.
