Canon ZR70 Digital Camcorder

LOADING THE CAMERA
  1. Open the cassette door by turning the camera over, sliding the Open/Eject button and lifting the door outward. The mechanism that holds the video cassette will slide out automatically.
  2. Carefully place the cassette into the slot with the red strip or label facing down and out.
  1. Squeeze the mechanism closed - be careful not to push down on it. Once closed, the mechanism will retract back into the camera.
  2. Close the door, and you are ready to begin filming.
ATTACHING AN EXTERNAL MICROPHONE
  1. Open the gray door on the right front of the camera.
  2. Plug the microphone into the red jack.
FILMING

The power switch on the rear of the camera has three settings.

  1. Change the setting from OFF to CAMERA by pressing the small green button as you turn the silver ring.
  2. Press the silver button to begin filming.
  3. Press the silver button again when you want to pause.
  1. Look through the viewfinder or at the view screen to see what you are filming.
The view screen shows you important information including:
  • Recording Status
  • Time Elapsed
  • Time Remaining
  1. Move the rocker switch between W and T to zoom in (T) or zoom out (W).


VIEWING WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY FILMED

With the power setting on PLAY (VCR), the buttons above the view screen work like a VCR.

Rewind the tape and press PLAY. You will be able to watch the video on the view screen.


CAPTURING THE VIDEO FOR EDITING WITH IMOVIE
  1. Connect the camera to your computer using the firewire included in the camera case. To access the firewire port on the camera, open the dark gray cover at the bottom front of the camera.

  1. With the camera connected, open iMovie.
  2. Click on the Import button at the bottom of the window. You can click Import again to stop capturing video. Use the VCR-like controls in iMovie to control the playback.
