Registering and logging in

To create and edit Legacy Cycle pages, you must first register a group User ID and password. To do this, click Login at the top of this page, and then click Registration in the menu bar.

If your group has already registered, click Login, and then enter your group user ID and password.

Note: you can directly display the pages by adding the group user id to the URL of the Legacy Cycle website as in
http://www.edb.utexas.edu/visionawards/petrosino/YOUR_GROUP_USER_ID

Logging out

Remember to log out when you are finished. Click Logout at the top of this page.

Creating and editing pages

Once you have logged in, you can display your website by clicking My Site at the top of the page.

To display the pages for each Challenge, click one of the Challenge tabs at the top of this page, and then click the Legacy Cycle step name (for example, Challenge or Test Your Mettle) in the menu bar or in the Legacy Cycle diagram.

The page you choose opens in a separate window. To edit the page, click [edit] in the upper right corner.

Note: Only one person in the team should be logged in and editing the pages at a time; otherwise you could overwrite the work of another team member.

Periodically, click the Save button to save your work. In the pop-up box, click [close this window].

If you're finished editing the page for now, click the Close button.

Specifying paragraph and text styles

The default paragraph style is Paragraph. The text you type will be this style by default. To change it, select the text with your mouse and then pull down a different style (for example, Heading 2) in the Paragraph menu. To change individual words or letters, select the text and click one of the font styles (for example, B) or color style   shown along the top of the editor page.

Adding a link

To add a link to another web page, click the  icon. In the Hyperlink dialog box enter the URL and desired browser window Target (for example, open the page in the same frame or a new empty window), and then click OK.

Adding an image

To insert an image in your page, follow these steps:
  1. Click the   icon.
  2. In the Image dialog box, double-click the image folder.
  3. Click ..., navigate to the image file, and click OK in the SPAW File Manager dialog box.
  4. You can specify other details in the Image dialog box or just click OK.

Adding a video

You can add videos to your page by either adding a web link (if they exist on another web site) or by uploading your own video to the web server. Videos uploaded to the web server must be less than 5 minutes long (or more specifically, no more than 8 MB in size). If you need a longer video, break it into segments (for example, as Part I and Part II).

To upload a video of 8 MB or less, follow these steps:
  1. Click the  icon.
  2. In the Media dialog box, double-click the media folder.
  3. Click ..., navigate to the video file, and then click OK in the SPAW File Manager dialog box.
  4. You can specify other details in the Media dialog box or just click OK.
