Dr. Dorothy Lovett 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award
Congratulations to Dr. Troy Adams, the recipient of the 2013 Dr. Dorothy J. Distinguished Alumni Award!
Dr. Troy Adams is the Chief Operating of officer of WellSteps and a Principal in the Lifestyle Research Group. He has been engaged in the health promotion industry for over 25 years as a researcher and practitioner. He spent his academic career researching issues that impede people from experiencing optimal well-being. His research has been presented all over the United States, in Great Britain, Australia and South Africa. He has also presented hundreds of invited lectures and speeches on a variety of wellness topics. He has served on the Editorial Board for the American Journal of Health Promotion and the National Wellness Institute Board of Directors. He recently released his first book, "Finding My Marbles: A story you can read and live.

Dr. Dorothy Lovett 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award
Congratulations to Dr. Tre McCalister, the recipient of the 2012 Dr. Dorothy J. Distinguished Alumni Award!
Tre' has more than 15 years experience developing, implementing and managing health and wellness programs and disease prevention initiatives for corporations and non-profits. Tre' currently leads Dell's health management and global wellness initiatives as a health and productivity strategist for the Global Benefits organization at Dell, Inc.
Tre' has a doctorate in Health Education with concentration in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and she completed her post-doctoral work with the Health Management Research Center at the University of Michigan specializing in corporate employee health program evaluation. Dr. McCalister is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin and an Associate Editor of The Art of Health Promotion Journal. She also serves on several supplier client advisory councils and in leadership roles for local and national health and wellness organizations, including the Board of the Austin Mayor's Health and Fitness Council, the NBGH Workforce Well-being Board and Silicon Valley Employers Forum.
Tre' lives in Austin, Texas with her husband and two children; Jordan (5 years old) and Ryan (3 years old).

Dr. Dorothy Lovett 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award
Congratulations to Representative
Donna Howard, the recipient of the 2011 Dr. Dorothy J. Lovett Distinguished Alumni Award.
Born and raised in Austin, Donna Howard graduated from Reagan High School, and is a Distinguished Alumni of the University of Texas School of Nursing, where she earned a bachelor's degree in 1974. Donna completed a master's degree in health education in 1977 from the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at UT-Austin. She worked as a critical care nurse at Brackenridge and Seton hospitals, served as the first hospital-based Patient Education Coordinator in Austin, and helped get the Seton Good Health School off the ground. Donna has also served as president of the Texas Nurses' Association (District 5) and a Health Education instructor at UT-Austin.
A strong advocate for public education, Howard served on the Eanes ISD board in West Austin from 1996 to 1999 and is certified as a Master School Trustee by the Texas Association of School Boards. Howard has served on the boards of the Austin Area Interreligious Ministries, Common Cause, and the Texas Freedom Network. As a current board member of the Expanding Horizons Foundation, she works to support low-income housing and education. She is also a board member of the newly-formed Texas Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.
Representative Howard currently sits on the Higher Education and House Administration Committees, and serves as Vice-Chair for the Culture, Recreation, and Tourism Committee. She is a Co-Founder of the Air Quality Caucus--a bipartisan group of more than forty legislators that works to bring together House members and state and local officials in an effort to begin a dialogue about how Texas can utilize the cleanest possible energy for the healthiest possible air.
Since the end of the 80th Legislative Session, Representative Howard has received recognition for her work on health care, the environment, and historic preservation from several organizations including The Austin Business Journal, the Texas Hospital Association, the Sierra Club, and the Heritage Society of Austin.
Married to Austin attorney Derek Howard, the couple has three children, all educated in Austin-area public schools. Howard and her family are active in their neighborhood and in their church, where she has served on the board. Representative Donna Howard is truly a distinguished alumnus! Donna, we are proud of you!

Dr. Dorothy Lovett 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award
Christyn Dolbier, Ph.D. was given the second annual Lovett Distinguished Alumni Award on April 24, 2009 by Dr. Dot Lovett herself, as part of Dr. Dolbier's appearance at the McCraw lecture speaking on Promoting Resilient and Thriving Stress Responses. Dr. Dolbier is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at East Carolina University. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000 with an interdisciplinary degree in Health Education and Psychology, and went on to complete postdoctoral training in Health Psychology at the University of California at San Francisco. Her research interests focus on developing and evaluating interventions to protect against the negative effects of stressors and facilitate resilient stress responses, particularly in populations that have demonstrated detrimental health outcomes as a result of stress such as pregnant women. She also has expertise in assessing psychological and physiological stress responses, and identifying resilience factors that help protect against the negative effects of stressors and enable people to adapt favorably to stressors.

First Recipient of the Dr. Dorothy Lovett Distinguished Alumni Award
Dr. Deborah Rohm Young Ph.D. was honored on Friday September 28, 2007 as the First Recipient of the Dr. Dorothy J. Lovett Distinguished Alumni Award, when she spoke to a "standing room only" crowd on the topic Physical Activity Interventions for Adolescent Girls: Lessons Learned and Next Steps as part of the 2007 McCraw Lecture Series. Dr. Rohm Young graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991 with a PhD in Health Education, and completed post-doctoral training at UCLA and John Hopkins University.
Dr. Young is currently Professor and Chair of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, at the University of Maryland. She is a physical activity epidemiologist with research experience and publications in physical activity assessment in community-based populations, evaluation of health benefits associated with physical activity, and determinants and adherence of physical activity behavior.
Her research interests focus on physical activity behavior and its association with cardiovascular disease prevention. She has a primary interest in developing and evaluating community-based physical activity interventions, particularly in population subgroups that are known to be underactive. Much of her research has focused on working with minority and female samples. Dr. Young is a founding member of the Science Board of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and is the current Science Board Chair. She is also a faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Young's research is funded by the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She has led and participated in a number of extramurally-funded projects evaluating the effects of community-based interventions on physical activity, obesity and weight gain prevention, and cardiovascular disease risk factors. She is the Principal Investigator for the University of Maryland field site for the Trial of Activity for Adolescent Girls (TAAG), a field-based, multi-center trial funded by NHLBI to reduce the decline in physical activity among middle school girls. Dr. Young is truly a distinguished alumnus! Debbie, we are very proud of you!
