I was born on March 18, 1965 in Sioux City, Iowa and was raised in Lawton - 8 miles to the east.


I am married to Sheri (since 1992) and have two children - Kylie (since 1996) and Austin (since 2000).

I live in Round Rock, Texas, 20 miles north of Austin.

I have been at the University of Texas since 1999. Before that, I taught at the University of Louisville (1998-99), University of South Dakota (1997-98), and Mississippi State University (1993-97). I received my degrees from the University of Nebraska (Ph.D. in 1993, B.S. in 1988) and Arizona State University (M.Ed. in 1991).
