Multimedia can provide . . .

that focuses on the unique needs and interests of the individual learner.

One problem that has always existed in education is the development of curriculum relevant to students with widely varying needs and interests. Some industrious teachers have attempted to survey students for their interests and goals and have developed one-on-one lessons. With the advent of multimedia and its highly interactive and user-controlled environment, individualizing learning has become much easier. New sites are being added regularly to the World Wide Web that allow learning to be more interactive, and allow teachers to individualize feedback to students, and allow students to originate their own inquiries.
