1. Open Photoshop or similar application.
If you are not familiar with Photoshop, try to find "Classroom in a
Book", the self taught instructional guide with a companion CD-ROM.
You can also visit the
Learning
Photoshop on the Web site.
2. After creating your new graphic, get it ready for
the Web. Open Image
Size from
Image menu. Graphic size: 5-6 inches wide and 2.5-3.5 high. Select Resolution: 72.
File size: try to have it no larger
than 35K.

3. You have to have the right color settings so that
your page look good on the Web. Select Indexed
Color from the Mode menu. Choose
8 bits for the Resolution, Adaptive for the Palette, and None or Diffusion for the Dither.
4. Open the Layers Window by selecing
Palettes from the Window menu, and select Show Layers from Palettes. Flatten layers (click the
red-marked triangle and select Flatten
Image).

5. Save file type as GIF (e.g., WebGraphic.gif) or
JPEG (e.g., WebGraphic .jpg). Don't forget to name your file with the gif extension (e.g.,WebGraphic.gif).
