Workshops
Over the course of
this project, the PER group has hosted several workshops. These events
have engaged science and math teachers across the country in innovative
research in education.
Austin, TX - 06/01/2004 to 06/03/2004 - During June 1-3, 2004, we conducted
the ninth in a series of Austin-based PER workshops.
Austin, TX - 03/06/2004 - On Saturday, March 6th we conducted
the eighth in a series of Austin-based PER workshops.
Austin, TX - 01/24/2004 - On January 24th we
conducted the seventh in a series of Austin-based PER workshops. We
invited the in service teachers who have been involved with our PT3
grant and previous PER workshops.

TX - 01/10/2004 -
On January 10th we conducted the sixth in a series of Austin-based PER workshops. We invited the in service teachers who have been involved with our PT3 grant and previous PER workshops. In addition, two new teachers joined our group.

TX - 11/22/2003 -
On November 22, 2003 we conducted the fifth in a series of Austin-based PER workshops. We again invited the in service teachers who have been involved with our PT3 grant and previous PER workshops as well as members of the VaNTH SLC (Student Leadership Council).

TX - 6/2/2003 to 6/4/2003 -
On June 2-4, 2003 we conducted the fourth in a series of Austin-based
PER workshops. We again invited the in service teachers who have been
involved with our PT3 grant and previous PER workshops as well as
members of the VaNTH SLC (Student Leadership Council).
Austin, TX - 4/12/2003 - We conducted our third
Austin based PER workshop on April 12, which inlcuded presentations
from graduate students Cherie McCollough and Barbara Austin.
Austin, TX - 2/22/2003 - On February 22, 2003
we conducted a second Austin based PER workshop, and invited the teachers
from our first workshop to return for additional training and discussion.
Austin, TX - 12/7/2002 - On December
7, 2002 we conducted an Austin based PER workshop. In an effort to
leverage resources here at The University of Texas, we opened this
workshop to in service teachers already involved with our PT3 grant.
Jersey City, NJ - 6/24/2002 to 6/28/2002
- As part of the VaNTH ERC Education outreach initiative, a K-12
workshop was held in Jersey City, NJ for middle school teachers by PER
principal investigator Tony Petrosino of UT-Austin. Over the course of
the five day workshop, the teachers were exposed to an overview of the
VaNTH ERC project, an overview of the LEGACY cycle framework, and an
in-depth look at the LEGACY unit on JUMPING.
San Antonio, TX 6/19/2002 to 6/21/2002
- Science teachers involved with the San Antonio USI (USI-9554484) were
invited to this workshop in an effort to present them with
instructional materials that use bioengineering and related sciences as
anchors and challenges for the teaching of science fundamentals at
various levels in K-12.
