Projects - PT3 WorkshopsThrough cooperation with of INSITE, a project of the PT3 initiative, the PDA Utilization Group has hosted a series of workshops for Austin-area schoolteachers. Through these seminars, we provided teachers with Palm Pilots, extensive Palm training and powerful software applications. The meetings also faciliated teacher interaction and sharing of best practices through roundtable discussions. We continued with our second cohort through Fall 2002, teaching one workshop on PDAs. Our second cohort of PT3 Fellows began in the Summer of 2002. Twenty teachers joined us for four workshops on PDAs in education. We returned to our first cohort of PT3 Fellows during the Spring semester with several site visits to install new systems as well as hosting a succesful Software Day workshop. After our PT3 Fellows learned the basics of several exciting educational technologies, we brought a few back for some expert classes. The initial series of summer workshops introduced our PT3 Fellows to handheld technology, providing basic training and support. Over twenty teachers enthusiastically embraced their new Palm Pilots and spoke postively regarding the role of handheld technology in schools. |
