ProjectsThroughout our PT3 grant cycle, we have brought groups of Austin Independent School Distict teachers to intensive workshops on using Palm Pilots and related technologies. To promote our research and to collaborate with others, members of the PDA Utilization Group have made site visits to other institutions. These sessions often include roundtable discussions, workshops, and facility tours. Palm/SRI Palm Education Partners (PEP) Grant In cooperation with AISD teacher Michelle Garza, we visited a middle school classroom and provided Palm Pilots to the students for a three-day algebra activity. We visited several University of Texas classrooms of future teachers to introduce PDA's and discuss opportunities. This ongoing project involves the use of Palm Ethernet HotSync Cradles and networking equipment to determine the feasability of fully networked PDA classrooms. VaNTH Observation System Training Workshops Members of Dr. Petrosino's research team attended a training workshop on the VaNTH Observation System (VOS) at Vanderbilt University. The VOS is a system for coding classroom events that utilizes PDAs for efficient data entry. |
