1/27/03 - Site Visit to the University of New Mexico

Members of the PDA Utilization Group, in coordination with Project INSITE, visited the University of New Mexico to present two half-day workshops on the role of PDAs in educator professional development.

12/5/02 - Fall 2002 Knowing and Learning Study Completed

During the Fall semester of 2002, twenty-three students in Dr. Tony Petrosino's Undergraduate Knowing and Learning Class were provided with PDAs as part of a semester long research study. For more information about this research, see our work on Palm Networks.

11/16/02 - PT3 Fall 2002 Workshops Complete

The PDA Utilization team completed two fall workshops on the use of PDAs with the AISD PT3 Fellows. For more information, see our PT3 workshop page.

7/17/02 - PT3 Summer 2002 Workshops Complete

The PDA Utilization team completed four summer workshops on the use of PDAs with the AISD PT3 Fellows. For more information, see our PT3 workshop page.

5/17/02 - VaNTH Observation System Workshop

In cooperation with VaNTH ERC, we sent several researchers to a training workshop at Vanderbilt University.

3/28/02 - Software Day Workshop

Continuing our work with the PT3 Fellows, the PDA Utilization invited five Austin teachers for a one day workshop covering several Palm-based software applications. In the weeks following the workshop, researchers visited each of the participants at their schools to setup wireless Palm printing as well as discuss other needs.

3/2/02 - Explore UT Info Session

As part of the annual program Explore UT, the PDA Utilization group prepared two public seminars to present some of our research to the general public. This included a brief review of ongoing projects and research results, as well as hands-on activities with Personal Digital Assitants. Over twenty guests collectively attended our two sessions. Special thanks to our panter presenter, Cindy Yates, of the Environmental Science Institute and Department of Geological Sciences Outreach Lecture Series. (Download Powerpoint 463k)

11/2/02 - CAST Info Session

During CAST, Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching, the PDA Utilization group prepared a seminar to present some of our research to Texas science educators. 7/25/01 - On Campus: Collaborative UT Austin, AISD project...

"Closing the significant gap that exists between teacher training and emerging technology is the aim of a new collaborative program between UT Austin and the Austin Independent School District (AISD)."
