Settled
into office in the Education Building. Finished up final edits
for manuscript to “Mathematical Thinking and Learning”
and did some preparation for AACTE conference in New Orleans
for January. |
Worked
on Curriculum paper for Teachers College Record and prepared
comments for Magnia George’s proposal defense. |
| Tuesday,
November 12 |
Met
with Hilda Borko and spoke about her NSF grant and the development
of a measure to assess teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge.
Made plans for another visit. |
Met
with Ron Andersen and Valerie Othero from Science Education.
Spoke with Ron about career milestones and with Valerie about
the UTeach program at Texas and the preservice program beginning
at Colorado. Late in the afternoon met with Michael Eisenberg
about using laser to make 3-D toys for high school students.
Toured his new facility. |

Magnia
George’s Proposal |
Spoke
with Audie Herbert about issues related to the Bioengineering
grant. Also spoke with Mitch Nathan about plans for the rest
of the stay in terms of working on the manuscript. Toured a
little of the area surrounding campus. |

November 14 |
Worked
on possible ideas for the manuscript with Mitch this morning.

Went
to Estes Park, CO with Mitch and his wife Robin. A nice day
in the mountains for a hike and some lunch. In the evening had
dinner with Hilda Borko and discussed issues related to the
NSF grant and AERA |

on possible ideas for the manuscript with Mitch this morning
and did some data analysis |

November 16 |
Some
down time with Mitch and Robin in and around Boulder. |
Went
for a nice hike in the foothills of Boulder. Watched the Buffalos
this evening against Iowa State. |

Worked
on Physics Expert Blind Spot with Mitch, outlined some possibilities
for more investigation

Saw
an old college friend of mine, Dr. Rick Leahy in Boulder. |

Morning
spent working on NSF proposal. Had lunch with Valerie Othero
had discussed the UTeach program at The University of Texas. |

Morning
spent working on manuscript with Mitch. |
Preparation
of NSF grant this afternoon. Answered a bunch of e-mails from
my Knowing and Learning class in Austin. At night, I went to
a Leo Kottle and Bob Gordon Concert |

on NSF ROLE grant |
This
afternoon was spent working on manuscript with Mitch. |

November 21 |
Morning
with Mitch figuring out the next steps to take with the manuscript.
Lunch in downtown Boulder and then got picked up for the Denver
Airport shuttle |
Arrived
back in Austin early evening. |
