Part Time Job Announcement

YI logoYouth InterACTIVE (YI) is seeking responsible, dedicated instructors to teach classes in ACTIVE Like ME! and ACTIVE Intramurals after school programs. Instructors should be compassionate, enthusiastic, highly motivated and should provide a positive role model for students. Instructors are responsible for delivering health- and fitness-based curriculum to students in a gym setting and ensuring that students are ACTIVE in an environment that is supportive, safe and FUN!

Duties:

  • Provide a safe and positive learning environment at all times for approximately 8-15 students.
  • Thoroughly prepare for class; welcome, assist and supervise volunteers
  • Check website for updated program information and modifications for various class situations
  • Follow lesson plans, maintain class schedule and keep students on track, noting any modifications made during class
  • Provide an overview to the Program Specialist after EACH class
  • Provide POSITIVE discipline when needed

Additional Information:

  • Applicant must read, understand and support the mission, vision and goals of YI.
  • Applicant must read the YI manual and understand all policies and procedures
  • Programs take place at schools throughout Round Rock, Austin and Pflugerville

Required Qualifications:

  • One to two years college
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to provide clear and concise communication to students
  • Must attend training prior to start of school programs; attend periodic instructor meetings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Individuals possessing or pursuing a degree in Kinesiology or Education
  • Ability to speak some Spanish
  • Previous experience with children in an active setting

Work Hours:

  • Approximately 2-16 hours per week; late August through end of school year preferred
  • Monday-Thursday
  • Varied between 2:30pm and 6:00pm

Salary: $10-$12 per hour depending on length of employment
