TIPS for Teachers

You are among the first group of teachers to use the I Have a Dream project for kids. As part of this group you are being asked to join with other teachers like you to develop tips for teachers who will use the I Have a Dream project in the future. You will be helping teachers understand what it means to be a coach compared to being a teacher, ways that advanced planning can help management of a long-range project, and how interactive tools can enhance project-based learning. Your group’s efforts will become part of a legacy of tips for future teachers who will integrate the I Have a Dream project in their classrooms.

Tips from each year's Legacy group of the IHAD project will be collected, posted on KIDLINK's KIDSPACE, and available as a resource for future teacher in the IHAD project. The tips will include:

  • What the group sees as the basic principles behind a topic,
  • Each Legacy teacher's perspective and tips for that topic.

The task ahead of your group, IHAD Legacy 2001, involves developing Web pages that could help someone needing tips and suggestions for running the IHAD project in the classroom.

  • Consider the grade levels and people from diverse perspectives that might be participating in the project,
  • Ways you can use information you’ve learned through experience in the IHAD project and TIPS project,
  • Collaborate with the others in your group in the development of your legacy project.
