Vanessa Errisuriz

Vanessa is a second year Health Behavior and Health Education Ph.D. student at UT Austin. Before coming to UT, she earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and an M.A. in Health Psychology from Texas State University-San Marcos. In general, Vanessa's focus is on obesity prevention for children, adolescents, and young adults. However, her research interests within this domain include a wide variety of topics, including determining how factors such as stress and social norms impact dietary behaviors, examining how media impacts perceived body image, and identifying factors that contribute to the success/failure of a prevention program. When not in the lab, Vanessa enjoys baking, reading, and karaoke bars!

Natalie Golaszewski

Natalie Golaszewski

Natalie is a first year Health Behavior and Health Education Ph.D. student at UT Austin. She's originally from South Lyon, Michigan. Before joining the Prevention Research Lab, she earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder (2008) and her M.A. in health education from Columbia University. Her research interests include identifying critical developmental periods for the onset of obesity and the environmental factors that contribute to it. She is currently working on a longitudinal study examining health behaviors of middle school students, writing a paper on weight-related discrimination, and TAing for Fundamentals of Nutrition. In her spare time, Natalie enjoys traveling, reading a good book, cooking, practicing her downward dog, and running.


Lara Latimer

Lara Latimer

Lara Latimer is a Doctoral Candidate in Health Behavior and Health Education in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education in the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her MA in Health Education from The University of Texas at Austin and her BS in Exercise and Sport Science form Texas Tech University. Her dissertation examines in-school food and beverage promotion and its association with students' food and beverage choices, preferences, and body mass index. Previous work as a Research Assistant includes aiding in the design and implementation of a weight-loss intervention with postpartum women of lower income, and the examination of elementary students' school lunch opinions and choices. Research interests include nutrition-related behaviors in relation to obesity treatment and prevention in children and adolescents. Lara is currently applying for postdoctoral fellowships and hopes to continue to develop a research career in obesity prevention. Her personal interests include running, triathlons, and music.

Natalie Poulos

Natalie Poulos

Natalie Poulos is a doctoral student in Health Behavior and Health Education in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education in the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her BS in Nutritional Sciences and MS in Health Education from UT Austin where she also completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics to become a Registered Dietitian. While working in the Prevention Research Lab, Natalie has worked as the project director on the Outdoor MEDIA project. She has also worked on CASES and CATCH Middle School project. Her research interests include behavioral health and community nutrition. In the future, she hopes to work with a food-based non-profit working to bring local food to underserved communities, as well as teach university level behavioral nutrition courses. Outside of school and work, Natalie enjoys spending time outside in the garden, taking walks with her three rescued dogs, and shopping at the local farmers market. Natalie and her husband also recently welcome their first baby boy, Luke, into the world in August 2012.
