What are topic, supporting, and concluding sentences?

Topic Sentence
Each paragraph should begin with a sentence that introduces the reader to your topic. This is called the topic sentence.

Supporting Sentences
After the topic sentence there should be at least three supporting sentences. Supporting sentences are details that explain the subject that you introduced in your topic sentence.

Concluding Sentence
Finally, your paragraph should end with a concluding sentence. This sentence ends the paragraph by giving a brief summary of what you just wrote about. Also, the concluding sentence can help to introduce the next paragraph.

Yes. I think this a good paragraph.
There are at least five sentences.
It has a topic sentence that I typed in blue.
There are also supporting sentences that I typed in red. And, the last sentence (in green) is my concluding sentence.

What does Ms. Frescas say?
1. Does the example meet all of the requirements of a paragraph? If your answer is yes, can you label the parts of this paragraph?

It's a very nice start! It is almost a paragraph.

What is correct:
There are at least five sentences.
It has a topic sentence typed in blue.
It also has at least three supporting sentences that are typed in red.

What needs improvement?
There is not a concluding sentence. Sarah's last sentence is not a conclusion because it is too specific. It cannot be a summary of the other four sentences.

Sarah does have a sentence that meets these requirements, but it is not in the proper place. If we move the sentence highlighted in purple to the end of the paragraph then we can call the group of sentences a paragraph since it now has all of its parts.
