The core mission of our
Latino Education Policy website is to enrich education and practice debates with solid evidence as a means to address
the many challenges facing K-12 public education in Texas. Created by graduate students at the University of Texas at
Austin, this effort seeks to thoughtfully define major policy issues in a collegial and informed manner. We also aim to
assist policy makers, state leadership, educators and the general public to assess the effectiveness of various
policy-development strategies, and alternatives in the following issue areas: high-stakes testing, school finance, teacher
quality, non-traditional schools, bilingual & dual language education, dropouts, and culturally relevant curriculum
& textbooks. |
