Google Docs Document
This is a type of Google Doc. If you have not read the Google Docs page yet, you should begin there.
Menu
Google Docs Documents have total 8 menu, including File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, Table, and Help, on its tool bar. Each menu has its own sub menu, which are following.
- File: New, Open, Upload, See revision History, Language, Rename, Make a copy, Download as, Saved, Page set up, Print setting, Print review and Print.(Google Docs Documents can be downloaded as ODT, PDF, RTF, Text, Word, HTML)
- Edit: Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Select all, Find and replace.
- View: Document view, Show ruler, Show equation tool bar, Show spelling suggestions, compact control, Hide control.
- Insert: Image, Link, Equation, Drawing, Comment, Footnote, Special characters, Horizontal line, Page break, Header, Footer, Bookmark, Table of contents.
- Format: Bold, Italic, Underline, Strike through, Superscript, Subscript, Paragraph styles, Align, Line spacing, List styles, Clear formatting.
- Tools: Translate document, Define, Word count, Preference
- Table: Insert table, Insert row above, Insert row below, Insert column left, Insert column right, Delete table, Delete row, Delete column, Table properties.
Discussion
The Google Docs document supports collaboration among the members who share the document with "Discussion" menu, which is on the right side of the window. There are two menu in the discussion, 1) Show discussions, and 2) Discussion notification setting.
The Show discussions button opens the discussion board.
On the discussion board, users can create discussion threads and leave comments.
You can select several options about discussion notification. First, you choose to send email notification or not. If you want to send email notification, you can set what notification you want to receive, among a) Notify me of all new comments and replies on this document, b) Notify me of replies to my comments, c) Notify me of replies to threads that I have commented on, and d) Notify me when I am @ mentioned in a comment.
