What is GET FIT Diabetes?
GET FIT Diabetes is a specialized education program for people with pre-diabetes, Type-2 Diabetes and or insulin resistance.  It is a 12-week program administered by a registered and licensed dietitian. This program involves one luncheon seminar each week where participants can bring their lunch and learn about diabetes and diabetes management.  A great compliment to this program is our highly successful Get Fit exercise and weight loss program.  For more information on Get Fit, view the program details. Is GET FIT Diabetes Right For Me?
GET FIT Diabetes is designed for the individuals at risk for or diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes.  It is led by a registered dietitian that can help you understand, prevent, and/or manage the disease.  Please call the Fitness Institute with additional questions (512) 471-0081.

What are the Benefits?
GET FIT Diabetes is designed to increase knowledge and abilities to properly manage blood sugar through diet and exercise.  FIT cares about each participant’s short and long-term goals, and aims to provide the tools for optimal health and lifetime success. The Fitness Institute of Texas teaches research based behavioral strategies to help participants understand how to reach and maintain their health goals. To improve one’s overall health often requires the accountability and assistance of others which FIT provides.

How Much Does it Cost?
GET FIT Diabetes is $85 for all 12 weeks.  Addition of the Get Fit program is $190 ($275 for both) which also includes a pre and post DEXA.
*Proceeds may be used in general support of the College of Education.

How Do I Sign Up?

How Do I Pay?
You can come by the Fitness Institute of Texas located in Bellmont Hall 966 or pay online with credit card by clicking this link: FIT Online Store.

Can I Pay for the Program with my UT Flex Account?
If your doctor has recommended a diet and exercise plan for diabetes or any other relevant medical condition (i.e. to lower your blood pressure, anemia, etc) you can use your UT Flex account to pay for GET FIT. You must pay with cash, check or credit card and get reimbursed. Our online store does not accept pay flex cards. You must provide signed documentation from your doctor for approval. You can use the form provided below to obtain a signature from your doctor. If you have additional questions, please contact Human Resources.

NOTE:
Individuals over 300 pounds are not permitted on UT DEXA; however, they are encouraged to contact the Institute to obtain best solutions for body composition analysis.
