Get Fit
Get FIT is a 12-week exercise and weight loss program administered by FIT professionals and staff. Get FIT is designed to create long-term behavior change in your employees, while helping shape the healthy environment of the workplace. This program commonly involves 2-3 workouts and the Weight Loss Solutions seminar each week. The workouts consist of a balanced mix between cardiovascular and resistance training, the goals being to maximize weight loss from fat and improve the daily functioning for each participant. These workouts are structured to accommodate spacing concerns and availability at each organization. Even if your organization does not have functioning fitness facility, we have safely and effectively been able to provide exercise classes in conference rooms, parking garages, break rooms, weight rooms, and outside. We provide a specialized assessment of your organization and the possibility of accommodating exercise classes.
The Weight Loss Solutions is a one-hour seminar within GET FIT, which is commonly held at the lunch hour one day per week. Participants bring their lunch and learn from a registered dietician and exercise behavioral specialist about healthy eating habits and factors influencing consistent exercise habits. The lunch meeting is also a time for individual questions to be answered and organization-specific topics to be discussed. Each participant receives a binder full of helpful information, tracking tools, and behavioral tips designed with personalized goals for the 12-week program. All of these resources are based on current research, and an important factor of long-term success.
A unique addition, GET FIT also includes before and after DEXA Body Composition tests allowing each participant to see changes in fat, muscle, and bone density. The DEXA body composition assessment is the gold-standard of scientific body composition analysis, which provides reliable results to participants on fat loss and muscle gain. This method is far superior to using weight only or other commonly-used body composition analysis methods.
Get FIT has been a highly successful program for the University of Texas-Austin since 2008. We currently are running 8 separate classes each fall, spring and summer for University faculty and staff. We have also expanded Get FIT to the Texas Medical Association in downtown Austin. The Texas Medical Association has been a pioneer in specializing Get FIT, and is currently servicing three classes fall, spring and summer. This program includes Weight Loss Solutions education series, and full program reimbursement to employees achieving at least 90% attendance.
