Calorie FIT
To determine resting caloric expenditure, the BodyGem analyzes the breathing rate to determine one's RMR. The client reports for testing first thing in the morning after fasting for 12 hours.
What is Calorie FIT?
Calorie FIT is an estimation of the number of calories that you expend per day. In addition it is the total caloric expenditure and intake necessary for energy balance and to meet appropriate weight loss goals. The number of calories that you expend per day equals your resting caloric expenditure (RMR) plus your Physical Activity Caloric Expenditure.
How does FIT determine Calorie FIT?
Your Resting Caloric Expenditure (RMR) is measured in the morning after a 12-hour fast using the BodyGem technology. Your Physical Activity Caloric Expenditure, the number of calories expended above rest during normal activities and exercise, are estimated using a physical activity recall. Total caloric expenditure is then estimated by adding these factors together. To be in energy balance (neither losing or gaining weight) total caloric expenditure and intake need to be equal. To lose weight, energy intake needs to be less than energy expenditure. For example, to lose one pound per week, caloric intake needs to be 500 calories per day less than caloric expenditure. Why is Calorie FiT important?
