General description:
This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the
theoretical structure that underlies social psychology as it has been applied
to sport. There will be a particular emphasis on the psychological concerns
that confront coaches in their interactions with individual athletes and
teams.
Prerequisites:
KIN 311 - sport psychology, the equivalent, or instructor's permission.

Weinberg, R. S. & Gould, D. (1995). Foundations of Sport and Exercise
Psychology. Champaign, IL: Human Kinetics.
Required Readings:
Reading packet will be available outside of office.
Requirements:
Papers will be in the form of an applied sport psychology project. The project
will include a review of literature, predictions for an achievement situation,
and as a test of those predictions. Data will be derived from observation
of sport interactions or an interview with a coach or athlete. Exams will
be essay in format and will be limited to the corresponding section of the
class.
