Minorities in Education is an organization that is open to any student interested in multicultural issues in the teaching profession. Among the club's goals are the recruitment of more ethnic minority students for careers in education, retention of ethnic minorities at UT and the development and enhancement of students' professional and leadership opportunities. Volunteer opportunities available to members include offering tours of the college to visiting K-12 students, and one of the highlights of the club's social calendar each year is the presentation of Education Idol, an extravaganza built around the popular TV show American Idol and featured during the college's Education Week. Applications for MIE are available in SZB 216 and BEL 222.
