Undergraduate Students

There are no undergraduate students in the Foreign Language Education program. Students interested in Teaching Certification should apply to the appropriate undergraduate program in the College of Education for the certification they seek. Teacher Certification is a separate program from the graduate level programs.

Graduate Students

Teacher Certification

Information about teaching certification can be obtained through the Teacher Certification program in the College of Education. Teacher certification is a separate program from the graduate level programs, and it is not included in the Foreign Language Education graduate degree program.

Admission Procedures

Prospective FLE students should apply for Graduate Study through the Graduate and International Admissions Center, as well as submit supporting materials directly to our program. Check the Admission Procedures area of the FLE website for detailed information regarding admissions criteria, deadlines and procedures.

Please note: When filling out the online application for admission, Foreign Language Education is not considered a specialization within the Curriculum and Instruction graduate major, but instead stands separately as its own graduate major.

Degree Programs

The Foreign Language Education program provides Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees with specializations in Applied Linguistics and Foreign Language Education or English as a Foreign/Second Language (ESL/FL).

Financial Assistance

A limited number of applicants are chosen each year for nomination of a University Preemptive Fellowship. Also available to qualified students are graduate teaching and research assistantships. This area of the web site was created to list financial assistance information for incomming and current FLE graduate assistance as well as other related links.
