Beretvas Named Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies
Dr. Tasha Beretvas
The College of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of educational psychology professor Tasha Beretvas as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, effective September 1.
Beretvas will direct the college’s Office of Research Support (ORS), which was created last year to support and enhance faculty research. In her new role, Beretvas will be working with the ORS to:
- identify funding sources;
- cultivate interdisciplinary research opportunities;
- mentor faculty and graduate students in research strategies; and
- offer administrative support to faculty in the pre-award and post-award grant process.
Additionally, she will serve as liaison with the academic departments and the UT Austin Graduate School in allocating Graduate School scholarships and fellowships each spring.
Beretvas, who has been with the College of Education since 2000, specializes in quantitative methods and research design and is on the board of directors for the college’s Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk. She currently is co-principal investigator for two Institute of Education Sciences federal grants and has extensive experience serving on federal grant review panels.
“We are so pleased to have Dr. Beretvas assume this important new leadership role in the Office of Research Support and in the college as a whole,” said Manuel J. Justiz, dean of the College of Education. “I think our faculty and graduate students will benefit significantly from having an administrator within the college whose explicit focus is the support of research activities and who can act as a liaison with relevant offices and academic units on campus. I feel Dr. Beretvas is uniquely qualified to advance the college’s research mission and priorities, and I know from experience and feedback I have received that she is an enthusiastic and committed mentor.”
