Rathbun Honored With University of Texas at Austin Staff Excellence Award - June 2nd, 2009

Mina Rathbun, an executive assistant in the College of Education’s Department of Kinesiology and Health Education, has been awarded a University of Texas at Austin 2009 Outstanding Staff Award. In recognition of her dedication and superior work performance, Rathbun received a certificate and an honorarium of $1,500 at the awards ceremony held on May 7th.

As executive assistant, Rathbun’s duties are wide-ranging, including administrative support for department chair Dr. John Ivy, staff supervision, budget monitoring and preparation, document approval, events planning, Web site and database maintenance and preparation of the departmental annual report.

“Mina does the job of five ‘ordinary’ people,” said Ivy. “I don’t know what we would do without her. She helps so many department members in so many ways, and we tell her ‘thank you’ often, but it means more when the ‘thanks’ is formalized and recognized on a campus wide level. I think we all share in her pride regarding this much-deserved honor.”
