AISD Honors 23 College of Education Grads as Teachers of Promise

Austin Independent School District (AISD) has honored 23 University of Texas at Austin College of Education graduates with the title “Teachers of Promise.” AISD’s Teachers of Promise program recognizes first year teachers who have consistently demonstrated excellent instructional practices and excelled in what is, for most, the most challenging year of teaching.

At an April 3 reception, honorees received a certificate presented by AISD superintendent Pat Forgione and a monetary award for classroom supplies.

The Teachers of Promise recognition program was created in 2002 by AISD’s professional development area and links novice teachers up with experienced mentors who offer guidance and support. Each year principals and mentor teachers are invited to nominate exceptional first year teachers.
