Profile
My research interests encompass several areas of undergraduate mathematics education: students' understanding of concepts in number theory and abstract algebra; students strategies when approaching the construction and verification of mathematical proofs; the role of definition in students' mathematical thinking; and the impact of student-centered problem-based teaching at the undergraduate level. Other research interests include the mathematical development of secondary mathematics teachers, the role of content knowledge in teaching secondary mathematics, and problem-based mathematics teaching at the secondary level.
Research Interests and Expertise
Undergraduate mathematics learning, Concept development in number theory and abstract algebra, Proof construction and validation, Innovative teaching methods at the undergraduate level (e.g., the modified Moore method)
