Profile

Dr. Stuart Reifel is Graduate Advisor for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. He is also Professor of Early Childhood Education, a Cissy McDaniel Parker Endowed Fellow, and serves as Graduate Advisor for the Early Childhood Education Program. He teaches undergraduate courses on children's play and curriculum, and graduate courses on early childhood research (inquiry on play, social construction of knowledge, early childhood research design). His current work addresses how professionals situate texts of children's play as meaningful evidence of children's learning, development, and adaptation to the classroom. Current questions address how teachers interpret children's play in diverse settings, and how teacher educators attempt to situate children's play for pre-service teachers.
