The College of Education, through its Technical & Network Services staff in the Learning Technology Center, provides various Web services to faculty and staff for the academic or administrative needs of its departments, offices, and centers. Technical & Network Services staff may be contacted by sending a request to Computer Help.
Web Hosting
The College of Education provides access to Web servers to allow faculty, staff, and students to host Web pages. Proper permission must be granted first as outlined in the COE Web Policies and Procedures. The College’s Learning Technology Center’s Technical & Network Services is responsible for creating and managing user accounts and making sure servers are functioning properly.
If you wish to host Web pages, first send a request to Computer Help, so that technical staff can help determine what Web services best suit your needs before you begin the design phase of your project. Once your needs are assessed, technical staff will create user accounts and passwords for you to access the appropriate Web servers.
There are four options for hosting web pages at the COE:
- Open Websites (OWS): available to COE faculty and supervised students for easily creating, publishing, and maintaining an online presence. For more info, see the OWS Homepage.
- The College of Education Web Server: available to faculty and staff. If you would like to open an account on this server contact the Computer Help Desk.
- Web Central: ITS servers external to the College of Education, available primarily to college offices and departments.
MySQL Database Services are available for use with the above web hosting options. If you would like to establish a database on the COE MySQL database server send a request to Computer Help.
The Computer Help technical staff will help you determine which of these is the best solution for you. Please send a request to Computer Help if you need assistance or have any questions.
