College of Education Spring 2013 Commencement Ceremony

Education Ceremony Information
The commencement ceremony being held for undergraduate students in the College of Education is scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. in Gregory Gym. Degree candidates should plan to arrive by 11:00 a.m. to allow adequate time for ceremony preparation. Tickets are not required for family or guests. The ceremony is expected to last around 1 1/2 hours.
This ceremony is only for undergraduate students earning a Bachelor's degree or completing a Post-Baccalaureate teacher certification program. Graduate students should contact the Graduate School for information about graduate student convocation.
University-Wide Commencement Information
The 130th Spring University-Wide Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 8:00 p.m. at The University of Texas at Austin Tower.
Education Commencement Speaker
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Sherry L. Field will be our commencement speaker. Dr. Field is currently Dean of the Arkansas Tech University College of Education and professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She previously served as Associate Dean for Teacher Education, Student Affairs and Administration for the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin. A member of the University of Texas faculty from 2001-2012, Dr. Field was the Catherine Mae Parker Centennial Professor in Education on the UT campus. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Texas Tech University, a Master of Education degree from Stephen F. Austin University and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas at Austin.
Parking
Parking for Commencement activities is free in designated areas and all parking garages on a first come, first served basis. Convenient parking for Gregory Gym will be located in the Brazos Parking Garage located at MLK and Brazos. Disabled parking and drop off area is available along Speedway (west of Gregory Gym). Additional parking information is available at the Parking and Transportation Web Site.
Academic Regalia
Degree candidates participating in the College of Education Commencement Ceremony will wear academic regalia. Academic regalia and invitations are available for purchase from the University Co-op. The tassel and stole color for the College of Education is light blue.
Special Assistance for Graduates & Guests
The Gregory Gym staff is prepared to make accommodations for all graduates and/or guests needing special assistance. Event staff will be available to assist persons needing special assistance. Special seating has been designated for guests in need of assistance.
