Education Ceremony Information
The commencement ceremony being held for undergraduate students in the College of Education is scheduled for Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. in the Bass Concert Hall. Degree candidates should plan to arrive by 11:00 a.m. to allow adequate time for ceremony preparation. Tickets are NOT required for family or guests. The ceremony is expected to last around 1 ½ hours.
This ceremony is for undergraduate students earning a Bachelors degree or completing a Post-Baccalaureate teacher certification program. Graduate students should contact their department for information about graduate student convocation.
Education Commencement Speaker
Richard J. Reddick, 2010-2011 Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Career Enhancement Fellow, is an assistant professor in the College of Education's Department of Educational Administration at The University of Texas at Austin, and is also the coordinator of the M.Ed. program in College and University Student Personnel Administration, where he was recently honored with a Spring 2009 Eyes of Texas Excellence Award. Dr. Reddick is also an affiliate of the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies, the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies and the Gender and Sexuality Center at The University of Texas at Austin.
Parking
Parking for Commencement activities is free in designated areas on a first come, first served basis. Convenient free parking will be available in the San Jacinto Garage off San Jacinto Street or Manor Garage located at the corner of Robert Dedman Drive & Clyde Littlefield. Disabled parking is available on the west side of Robert Dedman Drive, just north of 23rd Street. Additional parking information is available at the Parking and Transportation Web Site.
Academic Regalia
Degree candidates participating in the College of Education Commencement Ceremony will wear academic regalia. Academic regalia and invitations are available for purchase from the University Co-op. The tassel and stole color for the College of Education is light blue.
Special Assistance for Graduates & Guests
The Bass Concert Hall staff is prepared to make accommodations for all graduates or guests needing special assistance. Event staff will be available to assist persons needing special assistance. Special seating has been designated for guests in need of assistance.
