The Teacher Induction Education & Support (TIES) Program, established by the College of Education at The University of Texas, serves as a bridge between preservice teacher preparation and the in-service novice experience for UT graduate teachers. TIES is designed to build capacity by identifying needs and providing job-embedded professional development and support for novice teachers, their administrators, and the veteran teachers who mentor them.
Program Goals
- To support novice teachers
- To develop teacher-leaders
- To demonstrate and implement methods to improve teacher retention and teacher quality
- To facilitate dialogue among the stakeholders about the development of highly qualified, highly skilled educators as it relates to novice teachers
