Tuberculin Screening
Student Interns must present a copy of the results from a current TB skin test to the university facilitator or program coordinator to whom they are assigned BEFORE they may enter schools in Eanes ISD or Hays County ISD.
Considerations when obtaining a skin test:
- Students may obtain the TB skin test from their private physician, a community clinic, or through University Health Services.
- Cost of the skin test at the Health Center is currently $20.00. The amount can be billed to you.
- Students who cannot obtain the TB skin test for health or religious reasons may call the Field Experiences office at 512-471-1511 to obtain more information.
LOCATION
The Student Services Building is located on the corner of Wichita St. and W. Dean Keaton St. Go to the 2nd floor atrium. For information and appointments, please call 512-471-4955.
DISTRICT POLICIES
EANES ISD requires students to have had a TB skin test within the past twelve months by the time they begin their internship semester of the Professional Development Sequence.
HAYS CONSOLIDATED ISD requires students to have obtained a TB skin test within 120 days before beginning the internship semester. The results are considered acceptable for one year. Students continuing in Hays Consolidated ISD for their Intern II and/or Apprentice Teaching semesters may be required to obtain a new TB skin test after 1 year has passed.
AUSTIN ISD, ROUND ROCK ISD, and PFLUGERVILLE ISD do NOT require a TB skin test. However, the College of Education recommends that all students have the skin test done as a precaution.
OTHER DISTRICTS: Students placed in all other school districts may call that district's central office for information on their TB skin test policy.
