The University of Texas at Austin Apprentice teachers will go to the PISD Central Administration Office. They will present their driver license, social security card, and official transcript or diploma. PISD will give the student a packet that includes the application and handbook. The Apprentice teachers will fill out the application on site. The Apprentice teachers do not need to attend an orientation. The Apprentice teachers will not activate their pin number to ensure that they will not start getting calls to substitute for anyone other than their cooperating teacher.

In order to substitute for their cooperating teacher, the principal, cooperating teacher, coordinator, and apprentice teacher will need to agree that the student is ready.
