The requirement for the 2012-2013 academic year is:

  • Model: Apple MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air
  • Operating System: 10.6 "Snow Leopard", 10.7 "Lion", or 10.8 "Mountain Lion"
  • Processor: 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • RAM: 2GB (4GB preferred for better performance)
  • Hard Drive: 160GB
  • Technical Support: Three Year AppleCare Protection Plan
  • Software:
    • MS Office 2008 or 2011: Installation disc included in COE laptop bundles available at the UT Campus Computer Store
    • iLife ‘09 or ‘11:  Included in the Apple OS X operating system which runs on all Macs
    • Antivirus software: The free ClamXav application is available on the UT Bevoware Site.

Note: Apple software must be run on Apple hardware. Section 2 of the OS X Lion agreement states, "I. Other Use Restrictions. The grants set forth in this License do not permit you to, and you agree not to, install, use or run the Apple Software on any non-Apple-branded computer, or to enable others to do so. Unless otherwise permitted by the terms of this License: (i) only one user may use the Apple Software at a time, and (ii) you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be run or used by multiple computers at the same time. You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute or sublicense the Apple Software." The same clause limitations exist for other Apple operating systems and iLife. See all Apple license agreements.
