Overview & Goals of the Masters Program in LDBD

The faculty of the Department of Special Education in Learning Disabilities/Behavior Disorders (LD/BD) has several goals for our students seeking master’s degrees in Special Education in LD/BD.

  • Goal 1: We seek to prepare graduates of the LD/BD master’s program to serve as leaders and advocates in the field of Special Education for students with LD/BD.

  • Goal 2: We seek to prepare graduates of the LD/BD master’s program to have sufficient knowledge and competence to effectively work with students with LD/BD and their families.

  • Goal 3: We seek to prepare graduates to implement research-based practices in academic and behavioral domains with students with LD/BD.

  • Goal 4: We seek to prepare leaders in the field of special education who use culturally responsive practices in their work with students with LD/BD and their families.

  • Goal 5: We seek to prepare leaders in the field of special education who are socially responsible and ethical in their work with students with LD/BD.
