The Department of Special Education offers a master’s specialization in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders. Students in this specialization earn either an M.Ed with coursework only or an MA with thesis or MA with report in Special Education. The master’s is designed to provide current or aspiring educators and related service providers with knowledge, skills, and strategies to work with students in K-12 educational settings with mild/moderate disabilities such as learning disabilities and behavior disorders. Students will acquire knowledge, skills, and experience in the areas of assessment, instructional adaptations, and positive behavioral support, and will have the opportunity to apply those skills in a practicum setting with youth from diverse backgrounds.
