KHE Department launches Dynamic Warm Up videos with initial UT presence on iTunesU December 5, 2012

Meet Anthony Winn, a recent Kinesiology masters degree graduate. Under the direction of UT faculty member Dixie Stanforth, Anthony participated in the creation of a collection of instructional fitness videos. These videos focus on the fundamentals of a dynamic warm up, a key component of any workout.

The result is the creation of one of the first University of Texas iTunesU sites. iTunesU functions as an “app” that anyone can download or watch online. The courses provide access to free educational content via video instruction on a wide variety of topics from leading universities.

Anthony notes that “The process was a great learning process for me, especially being able to see how I ‘teach’ others…. The experience definitely made me more self-aware and improved my communication skills.”

Students in the personal training specialization use these videos to help learn how to lead an effective dynamic warm up. Stanforth believes others will also find them beneficial, noting they will increase understanding and application of recent science and best practices within the fitness industry.
