Kicking + Screening Soccer Film Festival

On September 7th and 8th, the Sport Development Lab at The University of Texas at Austin will host the Kicking + Screening Soccer Film Festival.

The event is open to the public and will feature two evenings of independent films and panel discussions.

Austin’s unofficial motto, “Keep Austin Weird,” provides the thematic foundation for K+S AUSTIN 2013’s opening night.  Mat Hodgson’s Four Year Plan, a documentary about Queens Park Rangers, focuses on the evolution of “modern football” from the people’s sport into a global industry, raising questions about the evolving “spirit of the game, the role of the supporter, and the “right way” to grow the game. The second night delves in the beautiful game’s impact on conflict resolution, with the screening of Alexander and Chris Browne’s After the Cup: Sons of Sakhnin United. This remarkable story of the first team from an Arab town to win the Israeli Cup and represent Israel in European competition.
