Central Research Themes

Central themes addressed in our research laboratories include:

  1. Application of mechanics (biomechanics) to analyze and model
movements and forces that are generated and applied to the body
  2. Central and peripheral neural control over the muscles that
    generate force that produces movement
  3. Muscular forces and adaptation during acute and chronic exercise paradigms
  4. Cardiovascular control and adaptations to exercise throughout the life cycle
  5. Psychological and behavioral changes throughout the life span in
response to acute and chronic exercise
  6. Neuronal and hormonal responses to environmental stresses placed
    upon the body
  7. Nutritional intervention to optimize acute and chronic exercise capacity
  8. Remediation strategies to intervene in central and peripheral
neuronal trauma, as well as to muscular injury and repair.
