Central Research Themes
Central themes addressed in our research laboratories include:
- Application of mechanics (biomechanics) to analyze and model
movements and forces that are generated and applied to the body - Central and peripheral neural control over the muscles that
generate force that produces movement - Muscular forces and adaptation during acute and chronic exercise paradigms
- Cardiovascular control and adaptations to exercise throughout the life cycle
- Psychological and behavioral changes throughout the life span in
response to acute and chronic exercise - Neuronal and hormonal responses to environmental stresses placed
upon the body - Nutritional intervention to optimize acute and chronic exercise capacity
- Remediation strategies to intervene in central and peripheral
neuronal trauma, as well as to muscular injury and repair.
