Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Required Coursework
All organized graduate courses (i.e., not including Directed Research) taken in Exercise Science must be taken for a letter grade. Courses taken outside of Exercise Science may be taken on a credit / no credit basis, as allowed by the Graduate School (i.e., no more than 6 credit hours or 20% of the hours on the Program of Work). All coursework must be pre-approved by the student's adviser.
- Coursework in Exercise Science (minimum 21 hrs)
- KIN 382 Lab Techniques (choose 1 or 2 options)
- At least six credits of directed research
- Additional adviser-approved coursework in Exercise Science as needed
- Statistics and Grant Writing (minimum 9 hrs)
- At least two adviser-approved graduate statistics or research methods courses
- KIN 386 Research Methods: Grant Writing
- Supporting coursework outside Department (minimum 6 hrs)
- At least two adviser-approved courses
- Dissertation (minimum 18 hrs)
- KIN 999R/999W Dissertation
