Melissa is a Registered Dietitian for the Cardiovascular Aging Research Laboratory. She received her Master degree in nutrition at Bastyr University, an alternative-medicine school in Kenmore, Washington and completed her Dietetic internship at the University of Washington in Seattle. Melissa’s involvement in nutrition research began at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle where she was involved in several NIH funded research projects. Melissa returned to her native Texas home in 2008 and now counsels clients in her private practice, Nutrition Wellness, in downtown Austin. She also conducts nutrition lectures and plant-based cooking classes in the community and teaches nutrition at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Online. She is passionate about helping others implement healthy eating habits for a lifetime of wellness.
