Admissions & Off-Campus Transfers
To become a major in Kinesiology and Health Education, students must first be admitted to the University. All off-campus applicants (transfer students and freshmen) must apply through the regular UT Office of Admissions prior to registering for courses. The phone number for Admissions is 475-7399 (For transfer/readmitted students) and 475-7440 (for freshmen). All the necessary application materials are available on-line at the web address for the Office of Admissions.Once a student is admitted to the University he/she should meet with an academic advisor in Bellmont (BEL) 1005 to declare their major (if they did not do so on the original application) and to pick up the appropriate degree plans. If you are a transfer student, be sure to bring a copy of your transcripts with you to this initial meeting so our degree evaluators can tell you how many non-UT credits may be counted toward your degree.
Transferring from another college at UT Austin
Because of the heavy demand for access to the majors in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education, the College of Education has established specific GPA requirements a student must meet in order to transfer into the Department.
The new requirements are:
* Students with 36 or more total hrs (UT + transfer hrs) at the end of the current semester must have a 3.0 or better overall UT GPA.
* Students with less than 36 total hrs (UT + transfer hrs) at the end of the current semester must have a 2.0 or better overall UT GPA.
If you do not have the required GPA according to your total hrs, you will not be allowed to transfer into Kinesiology & Health Education.
If you are eligible, and want to find out more about transferring into the Kinesiology and Health Education Department, please attend one of the College of Education Transfer Information Sessions or call (512) 475-6146 to set up an appointment.
Dates for the Transfer Information Sessions in Spring 2008 are:
* TBA
