Internships
The Master's and undergraduate programs emphasize the importance of practical experience and require the student to complete an internship. The University of Texas athletic department is internationally recognized for its highly trained specialists in many sport management areas. Students have taken advantage of the unique opportunity to work with the Longhorn Athletic Department, in such areas as marketing, suite/event operations, media relations, and development. In addition, students have gained experience working as graduate assistant coaches and graduate/student trainers with the Longhorns.
The sponsoring organization is usually one in the major field of interest to the student and is typically used as a springboard to employment in a related area. Internships should provide an exposure to all facets of the selected organization and offer a chance to interact with various management personnel inside and outside of the company.
