Graduate Program - Criteria for Admission
- Evidence of a bachelor's or master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or proof of equivalent training in a foreign institution.
- Achievement of a grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
- The relevance of preivous coursework to the applicant's desired graduate program.
- Our evaluation of the personal statement by the applicant.
- Our evaluation of the required three letters of recommendation submitted by individuals who are qualified to make judgements regarding the academic success of the applicant
- A satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).
- The following additional criteria concern Ph.D. applicants. Ph.D. students must have demonstrated the capability of independent research. Completing a master's thesis or publishing a research article may satisfy this. Ph.D. applicants must also have the sponsorship of a faculty member in the program of study who will serve as the student's Academic Advisor.
- All master's and Ph.D. applicants whose native language is not English must also make a satisfactory score on the TOEFL and submit the score to the Graduate and International Admission Center.
