The American Psychological Foundation (APF) recently announced that Carlton Fong is the recipient of the 2012 APF Esther Katz Rosen Fellowship.
The Rosen fellowship supports graduate students whose work centers on the psychological understanding of gifted and talented children and adolescents.
Carlton’s research interests broadly encompass the contextual and personality factors that influence motivation, self-regulation, and academic achievement. In particular, Carlton is interested in understanding how psychological pathways improve achievement and resilience in adolescents with a focus on underachieving gifted and talented youth. His current project is a meta-analysis that will synthesize the existing literature on the effectiveness of motivation and self-regulation interventions to reverse underachievement in gifted students.
