Cokley Elected to Fellow Status in APA
Dr. Kevin Cokley has been elected to Fellow status in the American Psychological Association (APA). This designation recognizes Dr. Cokley’s outstanding contributions in the field of psychology, specifically to Division 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology) and Division 45 (Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues). Fellow status requires that a person's work has had a national impact on the field of psychology beyond a local, state, or regional level. Dr. Cokley’s research and teaching can be broadly categorized in the area of African American psychology. His research interests include the construction of racial and ethnic identities, Afrocentric psychology, academic motivation, academic self-concept, and understanding the psychological and environmental factors that impact African American student achievement.
