SP Admissions Overview
The School Psychology master's specialization will be admitting approximately 8 students in the inaugural year. All admissions are for fall semester of the following academic year. Students will be notified that they are being invited for an interview mid to late February. Interviews are held on a single day on the UT campus (usually a Friday) during the month of March. While visiting during interview day is strongly encouraged, telephone or Skype interviews are available for students unable to travel to UT. Students are usually notified of their admission decision within two weeks of the scheduled interview date.
Admission decisions are made by consensus of the School Psychology faculty. Selection of students is based on multiple factors including GRE scores, course grades, letters of recommendation, potential match between student goals and program objectives, and a personal statement. In our review, we look for evidence of a good fit between the applicant and the program. The Graduate School does not impose a minimum GRE or GPA for admission. However, students with a low GPA or low GRE scores need to show outstanding performance in other areas in order to be given serious consideration.
